Speaking of rocks, that whole area is nothing but sand and rocks....the Israelis made a garden spot out of it, while your people are still living like they did a thousand years ago.

Before 1948, farms in Israel, then known as Palestine, were characterized by a variety of crops, land tenure systems, and farming practices: 
  • Crops
    The main crops were wheat and barley, which were grown on 75% of the cultivated land. Other crops included olives, grapes, cotton, oranges, sesame, Indian millet, dura, beans, fenugreek, and chickpeas.
  • Land tenure
    The most common land tenure systems were musha'a and mafrouz. Musha'a was a system where land was allocated to a village or community and then parceled out to individuals and families. Mafrouz was a system that was similar to private property in Europe.
